City & School Elections

The deadline to register to vote in the May 11, 2013 City and School Elections is April 11, 2013. To be eligible to vote in Texas, you must:
  • Be a U.S. citizen;
  • Be a resident of the county;
  • Be 18 years old (you may register at 17 years and 10 months)
  • Not a convicted felon (unless a person’s sentence is completed, including probation)
  • Not declared mentally incapacitated by a court of law.
You must be registered at least thirty days prior to an Election To be eligible to vote by mail in Texas, you must meet the one of the following criteria:
  • Be 65 years of age or older
  • Confined in jail
  • Disabled
  • Expected absence from the county during Early Voting and Election Day. If absence is claimed, your ballot must be mailed to an address outside the county.
Early Voting Period for the City & School Elections: April 29, 2013 until May 7, 2013 Dates for receiving applications by mail: First day to receive applications – March 12, 2013 Last day to receive applications – May 3, 2013 You must request an application to vote by mail before each election. Applications to register to vote and for a ballot by mail can now be downloaded at http://www.rockwallcountytexas.com/ or call the Rockwall County Elections Office. Please mail all applications to: 107 E. Kaufman, Rockwall, Texas 75087. Voter registration applications are also available at most post offices, libraries and high schools. If you have registered but don’t have a current voter registration certificate (bright yellow card), please contact the Rockwall County Elections Office at 972-204-6200. You are only eligible to vote in the city or school district where you live if you have previously registered. If you were registered to vote, but moved from one county in Texas to Rockwall County: You will need to register with Rockwall County before being allowed to vote in Rockwall County by the above deadline. If you moved from one address in a city to another address within the same city: You will need to change your voter registration before being allowed to vote at your new address by the above deadline. All updates changing your name or address must be done by mail or in person (no faxes).
